Serbisyo is a curated collection of devised performance vignettes on affective labor and the service industries. All featured works, created by different artists and weaved together by the Sipat Lawin Ensemble, reveal varying service identities that exist within the hidden fabric of societies. Looking at the artist as host, and art as performative labor. Serbisyo leads audiences  from the public to the concealed, revealing unseen economies.

GOBYERNO

Sipat Lawin Ensemble
May 18 (Thu)
7:00 pm @ Curiosity
(115 Maginhawa Street., Teacher’s Village, Diliman, QC)

GOBYERNO (Government) is a performance with workshop and film production elements inviting audiences to form and perform their ideal government, create their own ruling bodies, build their own cities, and develop a national constitution from scratch. A participatory show wherein audiences are challenged to collectively re-imagine social institutions and create alternatives. A theater that explores pertinent questions of our time, Gobyerno is a six-year development project that started in 2015 and have toured in Seoul (Korea), Manila (Philippines), Yokohama (Japan), Darwin and Castlemaine (Australia)

Sipat Lawin Ensemble is a Manila-based edge-work independent performance company creating relevant new works for and with communities here and abroad. Changing the landscape of theater in the Philippines, we aim to develop contemporary community performances shared among artists and audiences inside and outside the four walls of the theater. Collaborating with Sipat Lawin Ensemble for the Gobyerno Project are artists Ralph Lumbres, Brandon Relucio, and David Finnigan.
